Right-wing mastermind Karl Rove's shadowy outside group has made Ami Bera his top congressional target. Politico reported today that Crossroads GPS is dumping nearly one million dollars into television ads over the next two weeks in California's 7th Congressional District race to prop up former Congressman Doug Ose, who at the most recent financial filing was left with just over $80,000 in usable money in his campaign coffers.

The Bera campaign responded:

"Former Congressman Doug Ose's campaign is in trouble and it's not surprising that his radical Washington insider friend Karl Rove is trying to bail him out to the tune of nearly a million dollars," said campaign spokeswoman Allison Teixeira. "Of course Rove has made this race his top target; he wants to elect his ally Doug Ose who voted for his scheme to privatize Social Security and is trying to return to Washington to again gamble seniors' hard-earned retirements on Wall Street."
