ELK GROVE, CA - Today, Barack Obama endorsed Dr. Ami Bera for Congress in the race for California’s 7th Congressional District. Obama released the following statement:
“I’m proud to endorse Dr. Ami Bera for the United States House of Representatives. In Congress, Ami has had my back as we’ve worked to make the country stronger, safer, and fairer for California families – and now I have his back. Ami is a fighter for the middle class, and knows we need to build on the economic progress that workers and businesses have made in recent years. Ami has stood with me as we work to keep our country safe, defend a woman’s right to choose, protect Social Security and Medicare, and make college more affordable. I’ve counted on Ami, and Californians can, too.”
Obama also credited Dr. Bera’s commitment to always putting service first, and his belief that Congress should be a place of service.
“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of Barack Obama, whose vision and tireless work for the past eight years has brought progress to our nation and made our middle class stronger,” said Rep. Ami Bera. “I’ve been proud to stand with Barack Obama during my time in Congress, and with his support, I’m looking forward to continuing to stand up for our shared values moving forward.”
California’s hotly contested 7th Congressional district includes includes Folsom, Citrus Heights, Rancho Cordova, Carmichael, Sacramento, and Elk Grove.
